When you do return, you can be assured that we’ve worked hard to make sure visitors can relax and feel safe while visiting the Village.

Favorite Freshfields Photos: Furry Friends

Our Village visitors love furry friends as much as we do. The most popular photos shared at Freshfields are those of our four-legged friends, and we’d have to agree!

DogSpot arrived at Freshfields Village on July 27, 2019 as one of our favorite furry friends, @charlestonmax, welcomed the cool air… and so did you! Bring your canine pal to the Village and we’ve got a cozy air-conditioned sanctuary waiting.

There’s always a relaxing place to enjoy your surroundings at the Village, especially for your four-legged friends.

Pamper your pal like they’re the best in show with a trip to Dolittle’s for the newest spring collar, supplies, treats, toys, and more before heading to the beach. They are certain to leave with more than a smile!

We are proud to welcome your pet to our pet-friendly community. Everyone deserves to take a break, so check out all the ways you can Bring Fido to Freshfields Village!

Favorite Freshfields Photos: Village Adventures

While a picture can be worth a thousand words, your time at the Village is like a thousand adventures! As expert explorers, you’ve dared to sit back, unwind and sip, shop and socialize.

Sunday mornings with a frozen mocha java from Java Java is exactly how you enjoyed spending the weekend most. It’s the perfect refresher for a sidewalk stroll or the serene Village Green.

You found Freshfields as the perfect place to s p r e a d out and stroll around last year. Have you followed our Instagram? It’s also the perfect place to inspire your next trip!

Our Sidewalk Saturdays are a solid Freshfields Favorite! Check out all of the participating retailers at this month’s event for your next family weekend adventure.

Favorite Freshfields Photos: Wondrous Wildlife

Many of our visitors head to the Village to enjoy all the wondrous wildlife all around… and you made sure to capture it at Freshfields!

National Nature Photography Day is one of our favorite days at Freshfields. This best moment was captured from one of the many great shots our island provides every day.

No better way to start the day than a trip to the beach, especially when you catch a glimpse of wildlife that is deer to our hearts. Photo credit: @pobphoto.

Exploring the island for a chance to catch the wildlife is best on a bike! Don’t forget to stop by SeaCoast Sports and Outfitters to rent a kayak or bike on your next quest to see our wildlife.

Our island’s wildlife amazes us every single day! The Town of Kiawah shared this beautiful shot of a mother and calf recently spotted in a Kiawah creek back in January of 2019.

Favorite Freshfields Photos: Stunning Sunsets

Nothing says a relaxed, Lowcountry setting like a stunning sunset. These breathtaking views had you daydreaming all day long for a visit to Freshfields.

The most popular reaction to this best moment? “My happy place!” We’re always excited to welcome you back to your happy place at Freshfields Village.

Serene sunsets like this one from June 14, 2020 made it hard for us to stop gazing! Next time you’re looking to watch the sunset on our lakeside deck, head over to GDC Homes to wrap yourself in a comfy, soft blanket!

Can you believe this is your view when staying at the Andell Inn? Let the colors take you away when you visit the Village.

2 September 2020

Cooler days are just around the corner, and it’s time to freshen up your fall wardrobe! A new season is the perfect excuse for a closet refresh, and the retailers at Freshfields Village are bringing in trendy, new styles daily.

Say hello to fall with these five fashion trends, inspired by runways around the world.

Performance-Oriented Fashion

This season’s fashion is focused on comfort and style working hand-in-hand. Tommy Bahama, located next door to Cantina 76, is offering the perfect selection of pullovers and sweaters that strike the right tone between pajama cozy and corporate comfy. Autumn is all about accessorizing. Gloves are the next perfect fall accessory for both style and safety all season long. Visit Holly & Brooks to immerse yourself in high-quality and beautiful accessories for this trend, which is located in the Village Green. The trending men’s fall accessories include neckties and snugly fit beanies. Whether sticking to solid colors or a stylish, patterned tie, stop by vineyard vines for the elements of elegance you need.

Trending men’s shoes highlight the Chelsea Boot, which is appropriate for all different types of occasions and comes in both suede or leather–also available at Coastal Footwear.

Power Dressing

What women’s style can you expect this fall? Power dressinga contrast of wearing tailored, masculine-inspired clothing including suits, trousers or dresses. For the Family

Treat dad to a special experience with the entire family! How does a weekend getaway sound to spend quality time away from home? Check out the availability at the Andell Inn located in the Village. Enjoy a relaxing stay at the boutique hotel, stroll through the Village to enjoy shopping and dining just a few steps away, rent bikes and venture to the beach.

Dad might not be the breakfast in bed type, so think about dining al fresco on Sunday, June 21! Restaurants throughout the Village are open for indoor and outdoor dining with limited capacity. Make a reservation at one of our onsite restaurants and treat dad to some quality time over a favorite meal.

If you’re not ready to dine out, all of the Village restaurants are offering takeout options and curbside pick up. Select one of his favorite spirits at Kiawah Spirits and mix up a signature cocktail just for him!

For the Outdoorsman

For dads that prefer to get active and outside, Seacoast Sports and Outfitters is your one-stop-shop. Spend some time on the water with their kayak and paddleboard rentals or explore the island by bike with their bike rentals. Get outside and active to build some memories this Father’s Day.

Pair your experience with some new gear! The shop carries an extensive selection of brands. Some of our favorite picks include YETI coolers and drinkware, Free Fly outdoor apparel, Smith eye-wear, or everyday goodies for fishing, golf, and more.

Welcoming You Back to the Village

20 May 2020

As shops and restaurants begin to reopen, we’re looking forward to welcoming guests back to the Village! We continue to keep the health and wellness of our community a top priority and with that, all businesses here at Freshfields have been tailoring services to follow safety guidelines and recommendations. As of July 1, 2020, based on Town of Kiawah Ordinance, all patrons and employees are required to wear face coverings inside businesses and while waiting to be seated at restaurants. We encourage the use of masks outdoors where social distancing can not be maintained.

Upon your next visit to the Village, you’ll see we’ve put some new measures in place. Signage has been placed throughout the Village and we ask guests to be mindful and adhere to new regulations as we reopen in a safe manner.

ON THE VILLAGE GREEN

We ask that all guests practice safe social distancing while enjoying the Village Green and outdoor spaces. We are maintaining safe sanitation practices throughout interior and exterior public areas and have installed hand sanitizer stations for guest use.

While we work hard to ensure the Village remains as safe as possible for visitors and staff, we have paused our regularly scheduled events. However, smaller scaled events are scheduled for the holiday season. Details are available online! We ask that all guests enjoying our holiday entertainment wear masks and socially distance.

CURBSIDE PICKUP

Restaurants and retailers are still offering curbside pickup options. For the convenience of our guests, we have reserved parking spaces for curbside pickup. Please utilize the designated spaces marked with “curbside parking” signage when coming to pick up your online/phone order.

RESTAURANTS + RETAIL STORES

We ask that guests practice safe social distancing inside retail establishments and restaurants. Each retailer has posted the current customer occupancy at their front door. Based on occupancy restrictions, customers may be required to wait outside. In that event, you’ll find sidewalk decals in place for any retail stores or restaurants that may have to form lines. Individual businesses may have additional safety requirements for their guests. A full list of current hours of operation is available online.

GENERAL UPDATES

We will continue to maintain safe sanitation practices throughout the Village. Hand sanitizer stations have been installed throughout the property. While your furry friends are still welcome, please remember that your pets should always be on a leash.

Thank you for your cooperation and support during this time!

Foodie Alert: Dine Your Way Through the Village

4 March 2020

Are you sick of hitting up the same go-to spots on your nights out? Freshfields Village offers a variety of places to check out on your next date night or day with the family. From Mexican to sushi and things in between, you are sure to find a place that will satisfy even the pickiest eater.

Mexican everyone can enjoy: Cantina 76

Cantina 76 is a fun, award-winning Mexican restaurant. Open daily for lunch and dinner, Cantina 76 features an affordable taqueria based menu in a lively atmosphere. The housemade salsa is made from tomatoes grown right here in South Carolina, and with a variety of tacos ranging from veggie-filled to meat-filled, you are sure to create a meal everyone can enjoy. The patio is pet-friendly which is a bonus if your furry friend wants to join in on a family night out.

They even have some fun, specialty cocktails available this month that we highly recommend!

Mango Habanero Margarita: This sweet and spicy cocktail combines Milagro Reposado Tequila, infused with a habanero pepper in-house for 10 days, with mango puree, sweet and sour mix and fresh lime juice. Infusing the tequila with the habanero gives this drink a smooth, smokier flavor than a typical house tequila would.

Absolut Pear-A-Dise: The Absolut Pear-A-Dise is Cantina’s newest special cocktail, combining Anjou pear infused vodka with fresh lime juice, soda water and a lime wedge. It’s light and refreshing, and great for the soon-to-be spring days.

Happy Hour | Cantina 76 | Freshfields Village | Kiawah Island

Pair these cocktails with a customer favorite – Peruvian Shrimp Tacos. Made with lightly fried shrimp and topped with coleslaw and a sweet sesame chili sauce, you won’t be disappointed with this pick.

Ready for March Maddness? King Street Grille has got you covered.

King Street Grille offers a variety of bites  with more than 60 items on the menu. Voted best sports bar for over a decade by Charleston City Paper, you’ll be sure to find anything from a delicious salad customized by you, to a southern style, sweet tea fried chicken on the menu. 19 December 2019

We’re thrilled to announce we’re hosting Benjamin Walls, for an art exhibit and private film screening. The weekend-long event will feature works from Benjamin Walls Gallery and a pre-release screening of KIFARU on the Village Green. The Art of Adventure: A Weekend of Art & Film will take place February 14 to 17, 2020 to coincide with the annual Freshfields Village Art & Wine Walk.

National Media Partner

As a contemporary renaissance man, Benjamin Walls is an internationally acclaimed artist, avid environmentalist, and successful entrepreneur. Walls’ artwork has received seven international awards, and has been displayed in dozens of museums, including five exhibits at the Smithsonian and twice at the Natural History Museum of London. His work with major conservation organizations such as the Jane Goodall Institute has assisted nonprofits in raising over $500,000.

The annual Freshfields Village Art & Wine Walk will take place on Friday, February 14 at 4-7 pm. Residents and visitors are invited to watch live art demonstrations, view works from local and visiting artists and enjoy live jazz music and wine tastings in participating retail stores. A list of participating stores and artists will be available here soon.

The Freshfields Village screening will debut an exclusive showing of KIFARU before its release to the public. The film is a feature-length documentary following the lives of two young, Kenyan recruits who join Ol Pejeta Conservancy’s rhino caretaker unit – a small group of rangers that protect and care for Sudan, the last male Northern White Rhino in the world. Spanning the course of the caretakers’ first four years on the job, KIFARU allows viewers to intimately experience the joys and pitfalls of wildlife conservation firsthand through the eyes of these Kenyan rhino caretakers.

The screening of this film is significant today as the race to save the Northern White Rhino from extinction plays out in real time. As an executive producer of KIFARU, Benjamin Walls will be introducing the film at the 4 pm Saturday screening, and sharing the latest developments in the quest to save the Northern White Rhino.

Guests can RSVP in advance here to reserve a seat for the screening. Seating will be limited. – SOLD OUT
