Faces of Freshfields: Meet the Jewelry Store Owners of The Village
26 November 2024
The holiday season is here, and while we believe it’s always a good time to treat yourself, this is the perfect time to pick out that extra-special gift for a loved one – or maybe even the one, if you know what we mean! And what’s better than finding that perfect piece? Knowing exactly who you’re supporting when you shop small.
At Freshfields Village, two incredible jewelry stores offer more than just sparkle – they bring warmth, craftsmanship and personality to every piece. Hanebrink Jewelers specializes in jewelry for life’s big moments, while Peyton William Jewelry is all about enhancing your everyday style, and both make for wonderfully effortless gifting. Meet Fran of Hanebrink and Gabrielle of Peyton William, the talented and welcoming women behind these beloved shops.
With their passion for jewelry and dedication to customer experience, visiting their stores feels like stopping by an old friend’s. Get to know them below and discover why they’re so loved by our community!
Meet Fran of Hanebrink Jewelers
We’re thrilled to introduce you to Fran Hanebrink, a jewel in our community and the heart behind Hanebrink Jewelers. Fran and her husband, owners of this beloved jewelry store, have brought their passion and expertise to The Village, where they’re eager to help with any jewelry need – no job is too big or too small!
A Bit of How She Started
Hanebrink Jewelers began in 2013, rooted in a story of family and resilience. After Fran’s father experienced a health challenge, this led Fran to return to South Carolina from North Carolina, where she opened the original Hanebrink Jewelers in the historic district of Summerville. Now, she’s extending her craft to serve Kiawah, Seabrook and Johns Islands, bringing along her exceptional team of jewelers, designers, appraisers and gemologists who’ve all been key to Hanebrink’s success.
What You’ll Experience
Stepping into Hanebrink Jewelers feels like entering a treasure trove. You’ll find stunning one-of-a-kind pieces, cool vintage finds, consignment jewelry and even locally crafted pieces that truly embody the Lowcountry spirit. Fran’s holiday gift picks are as thoughtful as they are stylish: Southern Gates and Rice Beads jewelry made right here in the Lowcountry, and a striking watch by Glock. For effortless gifting, Fran recommends a timeless pair of earrings – a perfect touch of sparkle that requires no sizing!
Fran’s Favorite Village Find
And as for her favorite spot in The Village? It’s tough to choose, but Fran says the Post & Computer Center has a special place in her heart, thanks to the wonderful community of neighbors she’s found here.
Beyond her commitment to beautiful jewelry, Fran brings a special sense of purpose to Hanebrink Jewelers. As a veteran-owned business, they prioritize recycling gold and silver and sourcing materials in the USA whenever possible. It’s a commitment to quality, sustainability, and heart that makes Hanebrink Jewelers not just a store, but a place that feels like home.
Meet Gabrielle of Peyton William
We’re so excited to shine a spotlight on Gabrielle Egan, the talented designer and visionary behind Peyton William jewelry. With roots in Cape Cod and a lifelong passion for art and design, her first creations were made from aluminum foil at age four. Gabrielle’s journey to establishing her distinctive jewelry brand is as remarkable as the pieces she creates.
How Peyton Williams Came About
Peyton William’s story began in Vero Beach, Florida, in 2003 when Gabrielle, driven by a desire to channel her creativity, set up a table at a local art festival. To her surprise and delight, her handmade pieces were a hit, sparking what has become a nearly two-decade journey of jewelry design. As she moved from Vero Beach to Asheville, North Carolina, and eventually Charleston, South Carolina, Gabrielle’s brand continued to grow. Today, Peyton William has two vibrant retail locations – one right here at Freshfields and the other on bustling King Street. In addition, she has a thriving online store that connects her to customers across the country.
What To Expect In-Store
When you step into Peyton William, you’ll discover a curated selection of one-of-a-kind, handmade jewelry. Gabrielle’s collection blends unique gemstones, charms and handcrafted elements, each personally selected or crafted in her studio. A holiday favorite? Her customizable charm necklaces and pins, which let you design a meaningful, personal gift. Peyton William also offers consultations to help clients create custom pieces, making every visit a new experience and each piece truly unique.
Her Favorite Picks in The Village
For Gabrielle, Freshfields is as much about community as it is business. On a break, you might spot her with a sandwich and frosé from The Co-Op, soaking in The Village’s picturesque atmosphere on The Green. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a longtime client, she’s passionate about building connections, providing exceptional service and curating a welcoming, inspired space. She ensures everyone who walks through the door feels at home.
Stop by Peyton William to experience Gabrielle’s artistry firsthand and maybe even design a piece that’s all your own!
Whether you’re seeking a stunning statement piece or a meaningful gift for someone special, Fran at Hanebrink Jewelers and Gabrielle at Peyton William have brought their artistry, passion and unique perspectives to Freshfields Village.

Faces of Freshfields: Meet Jennie Brooks of Longevity
1 October 2024
Freshfields Village just got a little stronger – and more serene – with the recent opening of Longevity Pilates Kiawah, led by Charleston native Jennie Brooks. With a deep-rooted passion for fitness and wellness, Jennie’s journey began in a family of athletes and blossomed into a full-scale, holistic wellness center in downtown Charleston. Now, she brings that same dedication and expertise to The Village with her new boutique Pilates space, offering a retreat for both body and mind. As part of our Faces of Freshfields series, we’re excited to introduce the vibrant personalities that make The Village so special. Get to know Jennie below and the inspiration behind Longevity Pilates as she expands her wellness community to Kiawah.
Jennie’s Upbringing that Fueled her Passion
We’ve welcomed a new wellness destination here at Freshfields Village, Longevity Pilates, led by Charleston native Jennie Brooks. Jennie’s journey into the world of fitness and wellness began in her own family, where athleticism was a way of life. Her mother and stepfather were both competitive marathon runners, even winning the prestigious Kiawah Island marathon, while her father was an open-water swimmer. This active upbringing had a lasting impact on Jennie, who spent her youth playing multiple sports, dancing, and becoming an avid equestrian.
Jennie’s passion for helping others achieve their fitness goals blossomed during her early career in California, where she trained people for long-distance races. In 2006, she was fortunate enough to study Pilates under the world-renowned Nora St. John. This pivotal experience led Jennie to become a certified Pilates instructor and later, a trainer for others through the Balanced Body education program.
The Flagship That Started It All
Jennie founded Longevity in downtown Charleston in 2015, opening a 2,100 square-foot holistic fitness and wellness studio. Her vision was to create a space where clients could access a wide variety of complementary services under one roof. Over time, Longevity expanded its offerings and footprint, growing to over 10,000 square feet, with three Pilates studios, an open gym, a personal training suite, and more than 80 research-backed group classes. Clients also benefit from a range of wellness services, including massage therapy, acupuncture, stretch therapy, infrared saunas, cold plunges, skincare treatments, chiropractic care, functional medicine, and bio-testing. Now, Jennie has extended her expertise to the communities of Johns Island, Kiawah Island, and Seabrook Island with the opening of Longevity Pilates at Freshfields Village.
What to Expect at Longevity Kiawah
At the new Freshfields location, Jennie has brought the same luxurious boutique aesthetic that defines her flagship studio downtown. The space has been carefully designed to reflect attention to detail and an atmosphere of relaxation. The beautiful woodwork, crafted by her brother, Eric Brooks, adds an elevated touch of craftsmanship to the studio. Known for his fine furniture design on Sullivan’s Island, Eric’s work perfectly complements the spa-like feel of the studio, which has been described as a “fitness center that smells so good.”
Longevity Pilates at Freshfields offers two state-of-the-art Pilates studios—one for Reformer classes and another for private instruction. The studio is fully equipped with Balanced Body Reformers, Cadillac/Trapeze Tables, Chairs and Barrels. Jennie and her team pride themselves on delivering genuine hospitality, treating clients like guests and expanding their close-knit Longevity community.
A Freshfields Fan at Heart
Jennie is thrilled to bring Longevity to Freshfields Village, a place she knows well from years of enjoying its unique neighborhood feel. Living on Johns Island, she often takes the beautiful drive to Freshfields to do her grocery shopping and visit her favorite restaurants, La Tela and Hege’s.
