Freshfields Village Turns 20: Look Back and Celebrate What’s to Come

Can you believe it? Freshfields Village is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year! For two decades, our vibrant community hub has been the ultimate gathering place for locals and visitors—a perfect blend of charm, convenience and unforgettable experiences.

How It Started

Freshfields Village was born from a vision to create more than just an outdoor shopping center. Construction began in 2004, and by 2005, The Village officially opened its doors, offering a unique mix of boutiques, dining options and services nestled between Kiawah and Seabrook Islands, just 30 minutes from downtown Charleston. Over the years, it has grown into a destination where memories are made and traditions are cherished —whether you’re exploring the shops, savoring delicious meals, or soaking up the magic of our signature outdoor events. Did you know that Freshfields’ fave events like Music on The Green, Starlight Cinema and the Farmers Markets have been around since the very beginning? That’s right, these beloved happenings are celebrating 20 years, too!

What We’ve Accomplished

Over the past 20 years, Freshfields Village has welcomed countless visitors, hosted 320 outdoor concerts, hosted 220 beloved movie nights under the stars, put on 266 farmers markets, and raised money for local charities that are near and dear to our hearts. The Village has also forged exciting partnerships with like-minded brands, such as the beloved Garden & Gun, creating even more opportunities for guests to engage, discover and celebrate the best of the Lowcountry lifestyle.
