How to Eat, Drink, and Play at Freshfields Village

by Meredith Fischl of @eatdrinkplaycharleston

A hop, skip, and a jump from Charleston – or a 30-minute drive if you want to get specific – Freshfields Village has it all. From shopping and dining to FREE community events, many of which are family friendly, you’re bound to discover your next great adventure at Freshfields.

This year, I’m excited to be a #freshfieldspartner, helping The Village celebrate 20 incredible years by showcasing all the fun events and celebrations they have planned. Come along with me and eat, drink, and play at Freshfields Village!

Eat

Come hungry, friends. Boasting 11 restaurants, including national favorites like Ben & Jerry’s and Jersey Mike’s, Freshfields Village has something for everyone from your first sip of coffee to a sweet treat before bed.

For those who are like me and need a jolt of caffeine to start the day, pop over to Java Java or Café Eugenia! If smoothies are the healthy kick you need in the morning, Harvest, open until 4:00 pm, is perfect for you. Don’t forget The Co-Op serves breakfast until 11:00 am, too!

Planning for lunch or dinner at The Village? Feed the whole family at popular spots like Fuji Sushi Bar & Grill, one of four locations in the Lowcountry, celebrate ‘Taco Tuesday’ at Cantina 76, or order up a pizza at La Tela Pizzeria.

Leaning more towards girls night out or date night? I’d definitely recommend checking out FortyEight Wine Bar & Kitchen and Hege’s, The Village’s classic French restaurant, which focuses on fresh, seasonal products.

@eatdrinkplaycharleston tip: If you’re looking to bring a larger crowd, talk with FortyEight Wine Bar & Kitchen about their Reserve and Estate Rooms for larger gatherings accommodating 6 to 40+.

Drink

For those over 21 looking to get the party started, order up a famous Co-Op Frosé or pour yourself a glass at FortyEight Wine Bar & Kitchen. If you’re driving, please drive responsibly or grab something to enjoy at home from Kiawah Spirits or Kiawah Wines. I hear The Co-Op offers to-go frosé, too!

Play

For those in the know, there is always something happening at Freshfields Village. From family-friendly movie nights to summertime farmers markets and Music on The Green – all free events – I can confirm memories will be made. Visit freshfieldsvillage.com/events to learn more.

@eatdrinkplaycharleston tip: Call in an order to go from your favorite restaurant at Freshfields Village and enjoy a picnic for Music on the Green.

Shop til’ you drop. To know me is to know I love to support local! Grab a book from Indigo Books or pop into Charleston Shoe Company for some pep in your step. The Beaufort Bonnet Company, started in nearby Beaufort, South Carolina, or Islands Mercantile are also great places to shop small and support the Lowcountry.

Ladies will adore shopping at Freshfields. Bluemercury, the nation’s fastest-growing luxe beauty chain, alongside boutiques including Johnny Was, Luminary, LoveShackFancy, and Spartina 449. Looking to pick up something for him AND her? Check out J. McLaughlin, Vineyard Vines, or the ever-popular southern staple, Lilly Pulitzer. Don’t forget about your furry friends. Dolittle’s is the perfect place to pick up a treat for the animals in your life.

Are you more of a mover and shaker? Even if shopping isn’t your favorite activity, don’t worry, there is plenty to do. Rent a bike from SeaCoast Sports and Outfitters, book a class with Longevity Pilates Kiawah or a stretch with StretchLab. Forgot your gym clothes? Lululemon has you covered.

Maybe self-care is more your speed? In my book, self-care is always a good idea. Treat yourself to a massage at Urban Nirvana Spa or get a fresh manicure at Kiawah Island Oasis and thank me later.

Looking to prolong the fun? Plan a stay at the Andell Inn. A boutique hotel under the Marriott International brand, the hotel offers room for you or the whole family and features bonus amenities, like free local shuttles and complimentary breakfast.

Whether you’re choosing to eat, drink, or play at Freshfields Village one thing is for sure, you’re guaranteed to have a great time!
